Liz Watson has been a Social Worker with Hosparus Health for 17 years. She chooses to work for Hosparus because she sees an importance in offering a safe place for people when they are at a vulnerable time of their lives. “If I can be of support in any way, whether it is connecting someone to an important resource, providing a listening ear, or makingĀ  someone smile, it is well worth it. My life has been enriched with the wonderful patients and families over the years. So many moments and people that I will never forget,” she says.

Liz joined Hosparus Health after working in a nursing home in Lexington, which introduced her to hospice care and sparked her interest. She cares for patients wherever they call home in the Southwest Louisville area, including care facilities and their own residences. A typical day for her entails visiting multiple care facilities, reaching out to loved ones of her patients, and coordinating care with staff at the facility. Bill Meredith, Liz’s supervisor said: “Liz is an extremely resourceful social worker that strives to do the best for the patients and families and their situation. She cares for each patient personally, ensuring that their needs are met in the most efficient way possible. Liz works phenomenally on the team and takes every opportunity to display her natural leadership abilities.”

Liz has been married to her husband Scott for 17 years and they have three children, Austin, Shelby, and Luke. “My family is my world,” she says. “One of our favorite activities is going to the lake. It is something new for us, but we love it! Being out on the boat is so relaxing.” She also spends time at basketball and soccer games with the kids and admits to having a very competitive spirit, which sometimes embarrasses the kids.

“She cares for each patient personally, ensuring that their needs are met in the most efficient way possible.”
