Hosparus Health CEO and President Phil Marshall has announced his plans to retire at the end of this year. Marshall has led this region’s non-profit hospice and end-of-life provider for more than 14 years during which time the organization has grown extensively from a daily patient census of around 470 to nearly 1800 today. The 41-county service area has expanded as well into western Kentucky and southern Indiana. Besides hospice care, the organization added palliative care to assist patients with advanced illnesses with pain relief while they continue life-sustaining treatment.
Board Chair Joanne Berryman said the Board will begin a national search for his replacement immediately. “Phil’s contributions to Hosparus Health during his tenure as CEO are immense. He is considered a leader in this industry both on a state and national level. Filling his shoes will be no small task,” Berryman continued. Marshall has agreed to stay on through February 26, 2021 in a transitional role.
While the organization initiates a national search for Marshall’s replacement, Cathy Zion and Cis Gruebbel will serve as interim Co-CEOs. He is one of the founding members of the Louisville Healthcare CEO Council and currently serves on its Executive Committee.
