Free training on November 17 for new volunteers ready to make a difference in the lives of those in the community facing serious illnesses.

(CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY) — Hosparus Health Green River is seeking dedicated volunteers to share their time and talents with patients and families facing serious illness across Adair, Campbellsville, Green, Marion, Taylor, and Washington counties. The nonprofit organization is hosting a free, in-person volunteer training session on Friday, November 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. at 462 N. Bypass Road, Campbellsville.

“In the spirit of giving this holiday season, we are looking for volunteers who want to use their gifts to support others facing serious illnesses,” said Volunteer Manager Corey Wilson. “For the last 45 years, volunteers have been instrumental in helping our organization fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of life by making our services accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation.”

Volunteers play a crucial role, by providing companionship to patients, offering respite for caregivers, supporting the pediatric Kourageous Kids program, grief services, and Veteran initiatives, and sharing interests like reading, music, or crafting. Others can contribute behind the scenes with administrative assistance, writing letters and cards, making deliveries, and serving on committees. “There is a wide variety of opportunities to choose from,” added Wilson. “We work closely with each volunteer to find the position that’s right for them.”

Perspective volunteers should apply at hosparushealth.org/volunteers before the training. Those unable to attend in November are encouraged to apply and register for a later session. The next in-person training will be held on Thursday, December 7, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at 462 N. Bypass Road in Campbellsville. All volunteers must meet certain health requirements and provide documentation of COVID-19 vaccination before starting.

For questions or general information about other volunteer opportunities at Hosparus Health, contact Corey Wilson at cwilson@hosparus.org or call 270.789.4247, ext. 3664. Wilson added, “This holiday season, we encourage everyone to consider joining us by offering the most generous gift you can give – your time to help others.”
