In partnership with the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, Hosparus Barren River – Glasgow hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 29, at its new facility, 1320 N. Race St., Glasgow.

William J. Travis, M.D., has joined the Hosparus team as the medical director for the region. Prior to joining Hosparus, Dr. Travis served as medical director for T.J. Samson Hospice, as well as medical director for T.J. Samson Inpatient Palliative Care. He is board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine. Dr. Travis earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1983.

“Demand for quality hospice care in this area has increased tremendously over the past few years, so we knew we wanted to allocate the resources to open this location,” said Phil Marshall, President and CEO for Louisville, Ky.-based Hosparus. “We are pleased to have Dr. Travis lead an experienced and compassionate interdisciplinary team who is providing vital hospice services to hundreds of patients and families in the Glasgow area.”

Since 2010, Hosparus has served patients in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson and Warren counties. The new location, which opened in January, enables Hosparus to supplement its existing operations and better serve the patients and families in this region. The Glasgow location offers a full range of end-of-life services provided by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers, including medical and nursing services, grief counseling, social work and pastoral care.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about Hosparus services in Glasgow, call 270-782-7258.
