Mrs. Pat and Hosparus Health Grief Counselor Christy Morris
Our Personalized Approach to Grief Services

At Hosparus Health, we recognize that grief is a deeply personal journey, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Our grief counseling services are designed to meet each individual where they are, offering customized support. One of the most powerful aspects of our care is our ability to tailor services to each person’s grief journey, as illustrated by a recent story from our Green River community.

A Path to Healing Through Creativity: Mrs. Pat’s Story
Mrs. Pat, a grief counseling client at Hosparus Health Green River, faced challenges in coping with her grief through traditional therapeutic methods. Her grief counselor Christy Morris, LCSW, MSW, wanted to seek a better fit by exploring a different approach — blending creativity, connection, and care.

Christy added a special project to Mrs. Pat’s treatment plan. During their sessions, they worked together to crochet a cozy lap blanket. While Mrs. Pat couldn’t physically crochet the blanket herself, sitting together and focusing on this project gave her a sense of purpose and comfort. When Christy completed the final piece of the blanket and returned it to Mrs. Pat, her joy was undeniable. She expressed deep gratitude, saying, “I absolutely love this blanket, and you will never know how much this means to me.” For Mrs. Pat, the blanket became more than just a tangible object to keep her warm — it symbolized compassionate care, providing a coping mechanism that resonated with her needs as she navigated grief with the support of her counselor. Pictured are Mrs. Pat and Christy proudly holding this special blanket, a testament to their shared journey.

Grief Counseling Tailored to You
Mrs. Pat’s story highlights that our grief counseling services aren’t limited to traditional talk therapy. They can involve creative outlets, shared experiences, and new ways to connect with others, no matter where a person is on their journey. At Hosparus Health, we believe that healing comes in many forms, and our goal is to help individuals and families discover the path that’s right for them.

Ongoing Grief Groups and Specialty Events
In addition to individual counseling, Hosparus Health offers ongoing grief groups and specialty events to support those of all ages navigating loss. Our grief support groups provide a safe space for individuals to connect with others experiencing similar emotions, fostering community and understanding. We also offer specialty events and groups tailored to unique types of loss, such as the death of a parent or child. Additionally, we provide groups designed for young adults, a support group for LGBTQ+ community members, groups for children, and several virtual options for those unable to join in person.

“From engaging book clubs fostering connection through reading to grief yoga sessions offering a physical release for emotional tension, we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to take advantage of our services throughout their grief journey,” said Amy Hill, Executive Director of Counseling Services. “Our groups are facilitated by trained professionals who help guide participants through their grief, delivering on our commitment to holistic support by ensuring that anyone grieving has access to resources for healing and growth.”
