Hospice care is an often-misunderstood service. But it’s really just a choice of how you want to live your final chapters. Some people choose to nobly fight in the face of overwhelming odds and some people choose a path where they can live the rest of their lives enjoying more quality moments with family and friends. When you are ready to choose hospice, we’re here for you.
Hospice Care
Your life story is still yours to write.
What you can expect with hospice care services.
Hospice care is for people who are facing terminal illness and have a life expectancy of six months or less. Hospice services are not curative but, rather, provide relief of pain and other symptoms associated with the patient’s terminal illness and related conditions. It’s a medical benefit completely covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and all private insurance plans.
Grief Services
For anyone suffering a loss or even an anticipated loss, we offer counseling in private, group, or family sessions.
Spiritual Support
A critical but often overlooked component of care for families and friends is spiritual support. These services are offered to meet your spiritual needs and wishes, and go hand-in-hand with palliative and hospice care. Emotional and spiritual support is always available to the person’s family and loved ones.
Pain and Symptom Management
A primary goal of our care is to ensure the comfort of our patients and to assist with medication and symptom management of their illness. During each visit, we will check the patient’s pain level and adjust accordingly.
Medication Management
Treating complex illnesses requires complex medication management. With the guidance of the patient’s existing doctors and specialists, we ensure that they’re getting the right doses of medication and that their pain is managed effectively.
24/7 Phone Support
Our commitment to patients and their families doesn’t take time off. That’s why we provide around-the-clock phone support for everyone. This service is offered at no added cost.
Medical Team
We have one of the largest teams in the country of doctors and nurse practitioners who are board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine. Patients in our care can continue to have their care directed in tandem with their doctors and our expert team.
Volunteer Team
Our team of volunteers is specially trained to support patients and their families during treatment and care. Volunteers can help with things such as caregiver relief, running simple errands, and perhaps most important, companionship and emotional support.
Heart Connection ®
If someone has been diagnosed with advanced cardiac disease, Hosparus Health has a specialized program to improve their quality of life. Through early detection and symptom management, emergency room visits and hospital readmissions can be prevented. Care includes 24-hour phone support as well as home visits as part of the plan of care.
Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center
The Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center (HICC) is on the sixth floor of the Norton Healthcare Pavilion in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. We provide short-term care that may not be managed in other settings. Patients receive skilled 24-hour hospital care in a home-like atmosphere. Once symptoms are controlled patients may return home or to another care setting with continued support from a Hosparus Health community-based team.
What will it cost?
As a not-for-profit, our only mission is you.

A special kind of compassion.
All programs accept referrals 24 hours a day. Doctors may also refer to us directly. We understand how difficult this phone call can be, but if you’re ready call us toll-free at 800-264-0521.
