(LOUISVILLE, KY) — Hosparus Health, a leading provider of compassionate hospice and palliative care, is thrilled to announce a transformative step forward in its commitment to supporting individuals and families coping with grief. The James Graham Brown Foundation has generously awarded a substantial grant of $500,000 towards the construction of the new Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center on the Louisville-based nonprofit’s campus at 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive.
The grant will facilitate the construction of the 7,000-square-foot state-of-the-art grief sanctuary and wellness center featuring art therapy rooms, counseling offices, group meeting spaces, and an outdoor healing garden. The Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center will provide a place of support, connection, and mental healing for anyone in the community grieving the loss of a loved one.
“The generous grant provided by the James Graham Brown Foundation has contributed significantly to the Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center,” said Tawanda Owsley, Senior VP/Chief Development and Marketing Officer for Hosparus Health. “This center, at a total cost of $4 million, is now fully funded, ensuring that much-needed support services will be available to those in your community who are facing grief.”
The visionary support of the James Graham Foundation will allow Hosparus Health to bring forth this vital community resource and serve those of all ages in need of grief support, regardless of their ability to pay.
“We are committed to bringing a new culture of grief support to this community, one that is fully inclusive and accessible to all,” said David W. Cook, CEO of Hosparus Health. “We have always been committed to health inclusion and equity, caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. We will continue to advocate to make support available for all during their grief journey.”
Hosparus Health is taking steps to address the unmet needs of our community by adapting nationally recognized grief programs to serve a broader audience; developing innovative partnerships to extend the nonprofit’s reach; and embarking on a fundraising campaign to ensure everyone who seeks grief support has access, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center will offer a comprehensive array of services, including individual counseling, group therapy, educational workshops, and specialized programs tailored to the diverse needs of community members of all ages.
“We are pleased to support this much-needed Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center,” said Mason Rummel, President & CEO, James Graham Brown Foundation. “This investment today will yield meaningful and enduring results in quality of life for generations to come.”
Hosparus Health and the James Graham Foundation share a mutual commitment to fostering compassionate care, community engagement, and emotional well-being for all in need. This shared vision underscores the potential of the Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center to provide a safe haven for individuals to share, heal, and grow throughout their grief journey.
