Baptist Health and Hosparus Health Expand Hospice and Palliative Care Partnership to Southern Indiana

New inpatient program at Baptist Health Floyd builds on successful Louisville collaboration

Hosparus Health and its palliative care affiliate, Pallitus Health Partners, in collaboration with Baptist Health, announce the expansion of their innovative partnership to Southern Indiana. As of January 2, 2026, Pallitus Health Partners is offering palliative care consultations for patients at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

The program focuses on supporting patients and families facing serious illness by providing expert symptom management, helping them plan for the future, and connecting them with broader care options, including hospice when appropriate.

For patients needing hospice services, Hosparus Health’s medical staff is on site to serve as the primary medical provider during a patient’s hospitalization.

This expansion builds on the successful care model launched last year at Baptist Health Louisville, bringing specialized, compassionate support directly to patients at the hospital bedside.

Under the partnership, Hosparus Health’s interdisciplinary team—including board-certified hospice and palliative physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and social workers—is embedded on-site at Baptist Health Floyd. Patients have access to:

• Inpatient hospice care for those nearing end-of-life
• Palliative care consultations for symptom management and support with complex medical decisions
• Seven-day-a-week hospice availability
• 24/7 on-call clinical support for urgent needs

These services help ensure patients receive comfort-focused care sooner, while supporting families and improving coordination with hospital care teams.

“Our shared goal is to meet patients where they are with the right level of support at the right time,” the organizations said in a joint statement. “By integrating hospice and palliative care directly into the hospital setting, we can improve quality of life, help avoid rehospitalization and ensure transitions in care are as seamless as possible.”

The program at Baptist Health Floyd is supported by experienced leaders at Hosparus Health and Pallitus Health Partners, who are working closely with Baptist Health Floyd’s medical staff to ensure smooth implementation. The embedded team collaborates daily with hospital physicians, nurses, and case managers to address symptoms, guide care planning, and connect patients to home hospice or outpatient palliative services after discharge when appropriate.
