(LOUISVILLE, KY) — Hosparus Health, a leading care provider for those facing serious illnesses, hosted its second annual Celebrations of Compassion fundraiser at The Olmstead on June 13. Caregivers, donors, and community partners were awarded for their contributions to the nonprofit organization at this exclusive event, presented by Republic Bank Foundation.
“It is with deep gratitude we recognize our honorees for embracing our bold vision of making compassionate care accessible to anyone in need, so no one has to face serious illness alone,” said Hosparus Health President and CEO David W. Cook. “Thanks to their tireless efforts rallying behind our over 45-year mission, we have expanded services to support the quality of life for even members of the communities we know and love.”
Monica Harkins acted as the Celebration of Compassion emcee, showcasing those whose dedicated efforts have significantly impacted the mission of Hosparus Health. The following caregivers, community supporters, and volunteers were awarded for contributions to helping the organization deliver compassionate care to over 14,000 patients and families in 41 counties across Kentucky and Southern Indiana each year.

Benefitting Places of Compassion
Proceeds from the evening benefited the next Places of Compassion project for the organization, a new Inpatient Care Center to support hospice patients and their families. This state-of-the-art center will have 21 patient rooms, a chapel and meditation area, an eat-in kitchen, and space for families to gather throughout. Surrounding the facility will be beautifully landscaped grounds with a healing garden that connects to the new Harshaw Family Grief Counseling Center. These peaceful outdoor spaces will offer patients, their families, and Hosparus Health staff members a place to pause, reflect, and relax. Inpatient Care Center construction is scheduled for 2025.
“Our organization has accomplished a lot these past 45 years, and we’re just getting started!” shared Hosparus Health SVP/Chief Development and Marketing Officer Tawanda Owsley. “Our new Inpatient Care Center will help our teams better serve hospice patients and their families during some of the most challenging times. We are so grateful for the generosity of our Celebration of Compassion attendees for helping us raise nearly $140,000 toward our $9 million fundraising goal.”
The Inpatient Care Center is the third project in Hosparus Health’s $15 million Places of Compassion campaign.
