A Night Like No Other

I had the blessing of being a part of one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever witnessed in my eight and a half years with Hosparus Health, the wedding of Lauri Hundley and Thomas Layow, on January 25, 2023, Thomas’s birthday.

Unspoken Feelings

The couple met at Grand Traverse High School in Michigan when they were 15 years old. At the time, they were good friends, and never expressed their secret love for one another. They graduated and went their separate ways. Lauri married and had two beautiful children from her first marriage, daughter, Lindsey Boomer, 19, and son, Dillon Boomer, 23.

Second Chance at Romance

After Lauri later divorced and Thomas heard that she was single, he reached out to her. The couple rekindled their friendship, moved to Louisville, expressed their love for one another, and have been together for the past seven years.

Lauri went to college and studied agriculture. She knows everything there is to know about wine fields and wine production. She loves true crime games and cooking with Hello Fresh, per her daughter Lindsey. Thomas loves hiking, skydiving, flying helicopters, and woodworking.

They share a joint love for search-and-rescue and worked for the Jefferson Search Dog Association with their two amazing dogs, Watson and Ace, who are part of the family. Thomas has been Lauri’s caregiver since May 2022, a role he honors and carries out with unconditional love.

Making Meaningful Moments

The wedding was held in the couple’s home, where they were surrounded by loved ones and family members. The wedding party included Dillion, Lindsey, Watson, and Ace. Lauri was walked down the aisle by her mother, Brenda Wilson. Lauri’s sister, Guadalupe Steinberg, and Thomas’s mother, Barbara Layow, were also in attendance. I was joined by Hosparus team nurse Elizabeth Lindquist, as our chaplain, Jennifer Titus, officiated the beautiful ceremony.

This family truly blessed my soul. I thank God for blessing me with the chance to be part of such an amazing organization that allows me to live out my mission on a daily basis.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
